Theological question

If Jesus and Moses were on the edge of a lake, and they needed to get across in a hurry, would they walk across the surface, or part the lake and walk on the lake floor?

Surface, of course, they don't have to wait for the water to part. Plus, God's ways are always better.

They'd have to part the water ... Jesus could walk on water, but Moses couldn't. And Moses was a fat bastard, so no carrying that guy.

Arguments for water surface:

Shorter distance - straight line vs. curved lake bed

Jesus could extend the ability to walk on water to Moses - remember, he did it for Peter.

Arguments for lake bed:

Humble that he is, Jesus might let Moses let his ability shine brighter than his own.

Moses wouldn't necessarily have to part the whole lake in a corridor from one end to the other, just the area surrounding himself and Jesus; this would save time. Kind of a mini-part.

Keep going, this is fun.

My Jesus teleports.

Yeah, you read that correctly. See, I'm thinking about how Philip in the book of Acts talks to the Ethiopian and then the Spirit of God sweeps him away. And I'm also thinking that this event happened after both the parting of the Red Sea and the walking on water event. So, the way I see it, since these miracles of transportation keep getting progressively faster, either Jesus will teleport Himself and Moses wherever they're going, OR He will come up with something even faster - if it's even possible to transport oneself faster than teleportation already allows. Yep, that's my theory. At which point - who cares about the lake? :)

I think I'll have to agree with you on teleportation, Jana. There's actually a great example of teleportation across a body of water in John 6:16-21:

16 Now when evening came, His disciples went down to the sea,
17 and after getting into a boat, they started to cross the sea to Capernaum. It had already become dark, and Jesus had not yet come to them.
18 The sea began to be stirred up because a strong wind was blowing.
19 Then, when they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and drawing near to the boat; and they were frightened.
20 But He said to them, "It is I; do not be afraid."
21 So they were willing to receive Him into the boat, and immediately the boat was at the land to which they were going.

Yeah, Jesus would totally teleport them to the other side.
