Camera phone blowout sale

I know I said I'd try to post photos of Portland, but I wanted to show these pictures first. These all came off of my phone in recent weeks (months, maybe), and since I just got a new Mini-SD card for the phone, I was able to quickly dump these to my hard drive. So, without further ado, here are a few things what I've taken pictures of lately (clickety-click to enlarge):

I just think it's funny that the Marines feel the need to pimp their ride in order to get recruits.

This is just ridiculous. What is 24-themed gum supposed to taste like? Jack Bauer's sweat?

Equally ridiculous. I suppose these could be a companion to the 24 gum.

This is an etching on a glass panel at a local Chinese buffet restaurant. Yes, it's a panda. In a wheelchair.

Red, white and blue coated pretzels, just in time for the 4th of July. Our troops are sacrificing their lives so that we have the freedom to eat this crap. No doubt President Bush stays away from these...

Okay, I had to process this one a bit. I got this new desk fan a few months ago, and I noticed that there were photos on the box of people using the fan in offices, at the workplace, etc. Then I saw the warning in the manual: "It is not intended to be used in commercial or industrial settings." I figured it was moderately blogworthy.

I have this one linked to the large version of the photo, because there's one important thing to look for: On either side of the words "At Family Prices", you'll notice two little images of something that just has to be poo. Update: It turns out that I'd already Photoshop-enhanced this photo a while back, and hadn't blogged it. (Or have I?) So now it just links to the regular Flickr page.

This is a railroad crossing in Joplin, and it's notable because the device used here to stop traffic is what's known as a wigwag - a swinging stop sign that is increasingly rare to see in America. I plan on submitting it to a wigwag photo site, if I ever get around to it.

Is it just my imagination, or is Reese Witherspoon modeling for Wal-Mart hair salons now?

Just a really cool cloudy night in Joplin about a month ago. I love the way the clouds look.

I can't even begin to express how wrong this is.

Another Photoshop enhancement to point out the ridiculous: What in the heck is a "unique nighttime flavor", anyway? Could it be...Jack Bauer's sweat?

Apparently we were the last ones to hear about these - iPod vending machines. Just pop in $200 worth of nickels and dimes, and just like that, you get an mp3 player. There are two of these in the Minneapolis airport.

Me, in a tux, for John's wedding. "Fat guy in a little coat..."

I thought this was rather comical. Reminded me of this sign I spotted in Oklahoma last year. (Old Chicago, Mall 205, Portland)

Again, linked to the large version so you could see how creative this guy was in covering up his busted tail light. Pump out of order, indeed.

Just me and Coley being silly as usual. Aren't we cute?

The things you see (and then capture in pictures) are so very fascinating.

Your Crest photo made me laugh. If you guys ever visit Tunisia, you will need a bigger memory card for all the hilarious things you see. My recent favorite: a knock-off toothpaste in Crest packaging. The difference? This one was called "Crust." Appetizing, don't you think? I just updated my blog so you can see pics of my latest field trip.
