Random Thoughts Blowout Sale!

These are thoughts that are too short for posts of their own, and I don't want to make up a title for each one:
  • This morning I saw a car with Maine plates on it. My first thought was that someone must have asked the driver to pick something up in Portland, they got confused, and drove across the country to get it. Oh well, welcome to Oregon!

  • After much consideration, I have decided that my computer is not a he or a she. It's an it, and that's it.

  • There's a building along McLoughlin Blvd. that used to be a Wendy's restaurant, but now it houses a porn store. I'm sure there's a joke in there somewhere, but I probably shouldn't think about it anymore. Forget I mentioned it.

  • The thing about having a big scar on my chin is that I'll never be able to pretend that I'm Stan's twin brother Marty.

  • Sometimes, you just want to dream about flying, but God gives you a dream about microwaving your socks.

  • If someone has a headache in Tijuana, do they take Mexcedrin?

  • I paid 99 cents to download Sheryl Crow's "Every Day is a Winding Road", because I heard it in...a Subaru radio commercial. What have I become?

  • I finally bought a Sonicare toothbrush. It tickles my lips!

  • Why do people plaster their Web addresses in the back window of their cars? We're not on the Internet, we're driving! And it's always a long, hard-to-memorize URL, which means that we're required to write it down instead of, you know, steering our cars.

  • The Geico Gecko: Who green-lit that lame idea?

  • License plate frames with a paw print design: Not my idea of fashionable taste.

  • Do you think that anyone's ever watched all seven Police Academy movies in one sitting?

  • This afternoon I saw a Garfield suction-cup doll hanging from someone's back car window. What's even stranger, it was in a brand-new Honda. There's something wrong here, but I can't put my finger on it...

  • At any given moment, someone in the world is praying for you. Awesome, isn't it?

  • What about Tylenolio? Advilar?

  • My best blog topics often come when I'm nowhere near my blog. For example, right now I am at 7-Eleven, microwaving my socks.

  • If you're in your 30s and still have your high school graduation tassle hanging from your rear-view mirror, you have problems. Report to a hospital immediately.

  • Lastly, I want to give a big thank-you to the literally 20 drivers who wouldn't let me in their lane today when I signaled to get in, and the 21st who honked when I forced the issue. And yes, my blinker works.

Random Responses to Your Random Thoughts:

My computer is a he. As I've mentioned before, all of the inanimate objects in my life are male.

Maybe Stan's twin brother Marty also has an irregular scar on his chin. It's been proven that most people have some type of scar on their chin. So, there's hope for switching places yet!!! (Just become a corndog vendor and you're golden!)

Okay, microwaving your socks?? I'm laughing to hard to comment on that one.

I searched the internet for a month to find a poem that James Garner read in a Chevy commercial. (Turned out, it was written by a guy in the Chevy Corporation. I did find it, though.) So, I don't think it is at all strange that you searched out the Sheryl Crow song!

How many times do I have to scold you about the READING WHILE YOU'RE DRIVING????? Forget the websites! Better yet, just hire Marty to drive you around and then you can write and read and anything else you want to do on the commute to work!

I love the Geico Gecko! He's got a great accent!

I don't know about Police Academy, but I have watched all three Lord of the Rings movies in one sitting. That's ten to twelve fun-filled hours right there!

Yes, it is AWESOME to think that someone is praying for me at any given moment! What is more AWESOME is that Jesus is interceding at the right hand of the Father for us at every given moment!

Oh, and thank you very much, I now officially have "Every Day is a Winding Road" stuck in my head. (You were right, that statement is laced with sarcasm.)

if you microwave Jockey Shorts they catch fire, I speak from personal experience.

why is the Geico Gecko British, the company is owned by Warren Buffett?

I hate the neon license plate frames, for no particular reason.

maybe the 20 drivers wouldn't let you in their lane because they were laughing to hard at your high school graduation tassle hanging from your rear-view mirror!!!

If a human were to watch all 7 Police Academies in one sitting, his brain would become mush before the end of "Citizens on Patrol."

How about Robatussinico?

Were your socks dirty or clean before you microwaved them?

Thank you SO much for getting that song in Nicole's head because she got it in MY head and every time I surf over to her blog, it gets in my head again.

My computer is an asexual being, but I truly believe it is sentient. Does that make me weird?

I have always liked the Geico Gecko. At least they've found a way to poke fun at the fact that people are always getting their name wrong. People are always getting my name wrong, but I don't have a cute green spokesman to correct them.

If anyone can see the I in Geico, but still pronounce it "gek-ko," then they are illiterate.

Then I'm sorry to inform you that there are a lot of illiterate people in this world.

OFF TOPIC -- Stan, are you using Yahoo DSL? Jim

No, I have Comcast cable. But I do use Yahoo Messenger.

the cable company is making me nuts!!!!! based on timing, I thought you had Yahoo/DSL. I was wondering how you liked it -- clearly a moot point. but, it is odd that when you leave a comment, the time always coincides with a visitor with Yahoo DSL!!!! a good mystery

Stan... I could have just let you borrow my cd of it for FREE. :-)

I agree with Nicole on the Geico Gecko. He's just cute and the accent wins anytime!

Thanks, Katie! See Stan, I'm not the only one that finds that Gecko charming! Would you like him better if he was a she with a Southern accent?

At May 17, 2006 at 8:54:00 PM CDT, Blogger stan said...

No, that would scare me. Especially if it wore a bunch of petticoats, and carried a parasol.

Now that would make a great insurance commercial! The Geico Gecko's girlfriend Sue Ellen from Charleston, in her pink petticoat and ruffled parasol. I might buy insurance from a company who had the good sense to bring a Southerner into their advertising campaign.
