There's a good commentary about The X-Men and Christians that's worth reading. Having read it, I can say that I prefer the "fifth possibility" as well.
(It's also where I got the new quote in the title card of this blog.)

I saw the new X-Men. Pretty entertaining and typical X-Men story. I like the article, it definitely has some good points and its a fun relevant parallel.
