Thus Beginneth Year Three

Yeah, I know I back dated this post to yesterday, but I just couldn't remember whether I called March 1 or February 28 the blogiversary last year. For some reason, I thought my first post was on February 29. But looky there, it was February 28. (And a big DUH to me, since there was no Feb. 29 in 2005.)

So, happy two years old to the blog! Now, I guess the blog will go through the terrible twos. Whatever that means.

I might have to post a sort of retrospective for everything that happened since the big 0-1. It's been quite a year! But that's later. Now, I go eat dinner. Um, I mean Dinner.

I just noticed your link to Pat Sajak. I can't believe he has a blog! And he was discussing global warming on it. So odd. I can't imagine him thinking about anything but Wheel of Fortune.

More to come

Nicole and I took a road trip to Memphis this weekend. We went there to meet up with Katie, who was there on business, and had a great time. Along the way, we managed to drive in six different states (TN, MS, AR, MO, IN, and KY) in a 24-hour period. We also basically outran a massive storm system with possible tornadoes on Saturday night. So, that was fun. Also, we went to a good art museum, which is something I think I'd like to do more often.

We just got home not too long ago, so there isn't really time to process anything tonight. But soon, I'll be putting up a ton of new photos on Flickr (including many from before the trip); I'll be updating my "Last Five" list, because we watched some movies this weekend; I have a ton of new counties to update, so I'll add them and update the map; plus I'll probably blog about a few of the cool things, as well as the weird things, that I observed this weekend.

Stay tuned.

Your hoverboard just erased my credit cards, OOPS

In Back to the Future Part II, Marty McFly travels fully 30 years into the future, into a world where cars and people fly; where clothes are self-fitting (and self-drying); where theatre marquees are shown in holographic 3D; where people hydrate their food rather than microwave it; and where dogs are automatically walked by their collars.

This world took place in the year 2015.

2015.

That's a mere eight years away, people.

I feel old.

Silly rabbit...Trix are for people with extremely short-term memory

Spotted this in the grocery store the other night. Trix, now in a New Shape! The "new shape" is a little round ball, just like Kix.

And, um, the old shape of Trix. See? See again?

"Scalple...spogne..."

So we went to one of the hospitals in Joplin tonight, because one of our friends had to have emergency surgery. While in the waiting room, I spotted this empty wheelchair:

This just makes you feel good about the level of competence at one of the nation's "Top 100 Hospitals", doesn't it?

Sleepy time

I just found these photos lying around in a draft post from last July. Not sure why I never posted them...they're kinda funny.

Oh, and in response to your random header question :

"DO RONALD MCDONALD HOUSES SERVE BIG MACS AND EGG MCMUFFINS TO THEIR RESIDENTS?"

We stayed at the one in Amarillo for 2 weeks when Charleigh was born and saw no Big Macs. Mostly home cooked meals brought by local churches or fabulous catering donated by Outback, On the Border, and other equally wonderful places.

I'm 300,000 hours old

Remember in November, when Jim wrote a post about Re-date.com, which calculates how many hours, minutes, seconds old you are, your age on several planets, and other fascinating, time-wasting facts? Well, according to that site, I just crossed the 300,000-hour mark of my life. Also, I apparently crossed the 18,000,000-minute mark somewhere in there, too.

How, you ask, did I remember to mark this occasion? Well, I actually calculated this on November 10, 2006, the day of Jim's post. And I wrote this blog post on that same day. It's kind of fun, writing from the future. Hmm, I wonder what's actually going on in my life on the day I post this. Still no flying cars.
